The grand prix
Historic

The Grand Prix began in 1967 while racing passionates, members of the Club Autosport Mauricien (CAM), decided to organize a race in the streets of the city. Inspired by the Monaco race, Mr. Jean E. Ryan, Leon Dufour and Yves Girard, plus a committee of about thirty people, organized and that has now become a unique event in North America. The Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières rapidly gained importance and started hosting several series and with amazing pilots of high caliber. For a long time, the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières has contributed greatly to the development of great talent, contributing financially and providing the opportunity to race for young drivers.

Over the years, the circuit has been modified several times by changing the length, the circuit and even the direction of the race. At certain times, the circuit would take the Rue des Forges and even the grounds of the race course where they cut the oval to extend the race. The Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières welcomes several major drivers such as Jacques Duval, Gilles and Jacques Villeneuve, Patrick Carpentier, Alexandre Tagliani, Andrew Ranger, Danica Patrick, Ron Fellows, David Emprigham and Paul Gentilozzi.

Recently, the Grand Prix is heavily involved with the community of Trois-Rivières, offering both a excellent show, activities for the whole family, helping social causes by issuing tickets and allowing troubled youth to attend the races for free.
